Professor Lawrence, (Dennis Quaid) might be a brilliant
scholar, but when he comes to the cope with family problems, he is real klutz,
especially in comparison with his daughter who is a teenager. Lawrence does not
find passion in anything even in Victorian literature, for which is the expert.
Suddenly, at his place come to live his brother who is adopted, and at the same
time, Lawrence meets his former student Janet (Sarah Jessica Parker). Also he
must go away from this kind of life, because he will be found in many
unexpected, heartbreaking and comical situations.
